How do publishers benefit from the Brave Browser ecosystem?

  • As of today, publishers can either use ads in order to offer their content ‘for free’, put up a paywall, rely on user contributions or use endorsements/sponsorships. There aren’t many straight-forward options in-between.
  • Brave enables users to pay for publisher content with the BAT accrued through viewing ads.
  • Executed in the right way, this could remove a great deal of friction, as there would be no need for credit cards, recurring monthly subscriptions, and so forth.
  • The blockchain could allow for direct relationships between users, publishers and advertisers, and could also allow for platforms to inter-operate.
  • Above all that, having utility and value applied to attention could allow this attention to be commodified, valued openly and transacted upon in a way that would be transparent while delivering a better overall browsing experience.
